Tooth removal with Surgical Forcep Technique by Veecarestores in Mohali Punjab

In this technique two elevators and forcep are used to extract the tooth. In this unconventional method conventional forcep is used to take out the retained roots of certain teeth like incisors, canines & premolar . This technique is applicable in well defined but commonly occurring situations. Surgical procedures can be avoided by using this technique. First technique is used for incisor and involve four steps:

Step 1 Lift the gingival margin from the lingual and buccal aspects of the socket bone with an elevator.

Step 2 Put the fine root forceps down to the position and ensure that the beaks are within the soft tissues.

Step 3 Now Close the forceps and remove tooth or root with bone using appropriate movements – lingual-labial for lower incisors, rotations for roots with a conical shape.

Step 4 One should assess the mobility of one or both adjacent papillae . if the papillae are ‘detached’ they are best sutured. Vertical tears involving the gingival margin are not an inevitable consequence of this technique and do not necessarily benefit from suturing if they occur.

Advantages of this procedure:

·  Quick and atraumatic sutures are not always required.

·  Only basic instrumentation is used.

·  It reduces the roots being pushed into the antrum.

Disadvantages:

·  Demands more care.

·  It may cause unnecessary damage to soft and hard tissues if used carelessly.

·  Over-enthusiastic use of the technique could also increase the chances of dislodgement of roots into the antrum.
